Reflections
We are but wealthy beggars
Who know not what it is
To give and forgive
To love and to be loved.
We are men with eyes, yet without sight
Groping in the dark for some light
We are `knowledgeable’ ignoramus
Strayed from the path of truth and right
Polluted are not just water and air
But humankind’s heart and mind
With hatred, jealousy, avarice and all vice
Seek not your happiness in fame and fortune
These are but transient.....
Reflect, introspect.....
Happiness is within, not without.
Wake up O fortunate creations of God
Spread wide your wings of love and humility
Face the truths of your wrong doings –
Just this once
No matter how humiliating, how bitter
If only to seek a path better
Victory is surely yours
For long after you’re gone, you’ll stand tall
Having answered that all-important call.
